Anchor scripture: John 3: 8 Recovery VersionThe wind blows where it wills, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from and where it goes; so is everyone who is born of the SPIRIT”. The LORD JESUS gave this illustration to imply that “just as people do not understand the way (i.e. direction of movement) of the wind, so also, they will never understand the way of the SPIRIT, neither will they understand the steps and decisions taken by a person who is led by the SPIRIT”.

The intellect of every man neither understands nor appreciates the ways of GOD. For this reason, the scriptures testify to the fact that the natural man (i.e. one who only applies reasoning and human knowledge) cannot receive the things of the SPIRIT of GOD for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned (1 Corinthians 2:14). Isaiah 55:9 says, “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are MY ways higher than your ways, and MY thoughts higher than your thoughts”. The ways of the LORD (or HIS SPIRIT) simply means HIS magnificent wisdom. So Isaiah 55:9 stated above simply implies the superiority of GOD’S wisdom over man’s wisdom. Romans 11:33 also testifies concerning the superiority of GOD’S wisdom over man’s wisdom, saying, “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of GOD! How unsearchable are HIS judgements and untraceable HIS ways”. So there is a call to embrace GOD’S wisdom, because the scriptures testify to the truth that “the wisdom of this world is foolishness with GOD, … The LORD knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain(1st Corinthians 3:18-20). Proverbs 1:20 – 23 says “20Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets: 21She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying, 22How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity (i.e. the ways of man’s wisdom)? 23Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you”. The previous sentence (“I will make my words known to you”) is the point of emphasis. It tells us that GOD’S wisdom is hidden in HIS word (i.e. HIS communication to the believer). GOD’S communication to the believer can either be by the ‘knowing of revelation (Matthew 16: 17)’ or ‘the speakings of HIS SPIRIT (Isaiah 30: 21, Jerimiah 7:23)’.

Blessed is he that hears GOD’S word and walks accordingly (i.e. complies and obeys), for he is not just a hearer but a doer of GOD’S word (James 1:21-25). Such a person lives according to GOD’S wisdom and he will find rest in all his endeavours (Jeremiah 6: 16), and the works of his hands shall prosper (Psalm 1:1-3).

Selah (Pause and think about it for a moment).
